I like your article debunking the left's theocracy charges, as well as the one about Madonna. I despise Madonna and everything she stands for, and believe she has done more to corrupt the culture than possibly anyone else, but you are correct that excommunication only maters to those dissidents who actually care.
Finally on the issue of scolding of Liberal Bishops. I too was hoping that Benedict was going to come in and kick butt... maybe he'll surprise us.
Scolding isn't enough. possibly an ultimatum to return to orthodoxy immediately, or turn in their resignations.
On thebright side, while many of our older bishops are duds, throwbacks to the liberalism of mid century, I am encouraged by some of the young Priests. I am sure that Fr. Thomas Dowd will be made a Bishop before too long. He's been called to the Cathedral, so we can only hope.
