Christian Political Party UnionThe
Christian Political Party Union (CPPU) is a project I've been working on. It takes place on Gamespot, a popular video game website.
The purpose of the CPPU is to promote Christian political parties worldwide and it's secondary purpose is to be a hassle-free place for pro-life/pro-family supporters regardless of political affiliation, in addition to talking about politics from a Christian perspective. Since there are other political unions at Gamespot, I thought I would make one that represented the Christian perspective.
It's audience is made up of people currently at Gamespot, so a person has to be a member at Gamespot before they can sign up at the CPPU.

Don't forget to include the FCP!

Looks interesting Jemdude. I almost joined to see what Gamespot was and participate but I disciplined my self as I'm doing a quick glance at my backlog of mail and CV of course. :D
I think I'll be a while catching up totally though. I just got in late last night and .... my goodness, but you guys have been chatting a lot while I was gone

We had a new member, Epiphany, join, and she has been, and hope will continue to be an asset to the dialogue here.

I've included the FCP in the pro-life/pro-family resources post in addition to Canadian Viewpoints board in there and the CHP website in the rules thread and on my sig over there. In fact, Epiphany is a CPPU member. She found out about it on her own, which suprised me since I wasn't expecting anyong outside of Gamespot to know about it. I'm hoping that the CPPU will be a good place to attract teens, young adults, and the young at heart, to Christian type political parties.
One of my officers, stitch321, is a member of the Constitution Party.

Insofar as the marketing of Christian poloitical parties goes, we need to show we can have fun, and are in favour of good clean liberating fun, humour instead of being seen as black clad "temperance Union" types.
anybody know any good Christian bands who would play CHP/FCP schmoozers, for example?
We should no how to party, since, after all, we, of all people have more to actually celebrate than anyone else!
By partying, I don't mean "Animal House" !

There is also a Christian union and a Christian music union over there as well. The good thing about the unions is that it can be of any subject matter (not just video games) as long as their rules are met.

I understand if you are too busy to join. I'll be happy to make you an officer (moderator) if you do.
If you know of any gamers who might be members of Gamespot, tell them to check out my uninon. :D

A lot of Christians gamers would like to see Christian video games being made. At least there is lots of Christian music. In fact there is a Christian music station on FM in Manitoba. It's been a while since I listened to it, but it's quite good. http://www.chvnradio.com/

The LaHaye/Jenkins duo tried to launch a computer/video game based on "Left Behind"
You can read this post from Michael Barber's blog
http://singinginthereign.cblogspot.com .
This was posted in June, and it would seem that this stupid game has been taken off the market, since the link to the page has been removed from teh left Behind Website. I saw it back when this article was posted. Games like this we do not need.
------------------
Come Lord--And Bring Some Ammo?
I didn't believe it until I saw it for myself -- "Left Behind" is now a first person "shooter" video game. That's right, the Parousia is coming. And what is your role exactly?--Shoot to kill.
I'm not kidding. Here's the description of the new game, "Left Behind: Eternal Forces," from a recent LA Times story. (http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-godgames10may10,0,1260114.story?coll=la-home-business)
"In the game, Tribulation squads unleash the usual arsenal against the Antichrist: guns, tanks, helicopters. But soldiers lose some of their spirituality every time they kill an opponent and must be bolstered through prayer. The failure to nurture good guys causes their spirit points to drop, leaving them vulnerable to recruitment by the other side."
If that's not bad enough, it gets worse.
When you kill one of the bad guys, your player exclaims: "Praise the Lord!"
You can't make up this stuff. For more horrifying details go here (Dead link
http://leftbehindgames.com/pages/the_games.htm). Talk about apocalyptic...

Video games have really changed since the time I grew up with them. Now you have rating systems, and kids wanting to play M (mature 17+) rated (equivilant to R rating in movies) games. These types of games have lots of violence and gore.
Another thing I don't like is the fact that just about every video game magazine (with the possible exception of Nintendo Power magazine) covers M rated games; which means that kids are reading about them. Even Toys R Us sells M rated games!
There is talk in the mainstream political unions about governments wanting to regulate video games.

I was a "Pinball Wizard" back in the day. Could never mater the video games that were out at the time (Asteroids, Tron, Joust, Sinistar, Donkey Kong, Pac Man etc) . I'm dating myself here!
Jemdude- 08-07-2006
I wasn't into pinball much, but it was pretty fun the few times I've played it. Nintendo is going to make a lot of the 80's and early 90's video games available for downloading for a small fee with their upcoming "Wii" system (yes, that's what they're calling it) so I'm looking forward to it, but I'll most likely buy it sometime next year.

So far, I have 37 members. The CPPU is my own small way of trying to present the Christian world view in politics to the young (and young at heart).
I hope it will eventually be of some assistance to the CHP and other Christian and pro-life/pro-family organizations someday.
