I think I liked the old one better.
I think I liked the old one better.
I was thinking more on the lines of God this and God that (example: GodTV). I get tired of it, I guess.
I like the site... I just visited and saw this timely piece....

GodTube may sould abit too much of a copycat of YouTube, so the name change may be a good thing... I just hope the whole thing catches on. I notice they're trying a social netowrk site as well..
I might give it a go, but the only ones that seem to have worlked among the dozens out there, are facebook and to a lesser extent, MySpace.
remember they Tried Kingdom Citizens network last year and it flopped big time.
Anyway i wish them the best!
<rant>To me Christians have to start being more innovative when it comes to technology. Christians are the last ones to the post sort of speak. We seem to follow what the worldly do and then just copy it (and therefore it flops sometimes), instead of coming up with an idea that is totally new and running with it.
It was like that with media even. Notice there is no real Christian content on Blue-Ray yet, same thing was with DVD's. It takes the Christian community years before they get going with things. :( </rant>
Thanks.... Gotta love the skit guys...
that said, CCHeritage has it right that we are always slightly behind the curve on cultural matters...Not that we want to be "like the world", but we not only have to use the tools available for good, but we need to INNOVATE.
trouble is, most Christians WANT to have a foot in the world as well. However, the moment we become part OF the world system, we lose some of our spiritual power in proportion to how deep we get in. Fortunately the opposite is also true.
Many Christians, especially parents shun higher education, because secular institutions spend so much energy and time indoctrinating students with the poison of atheism... Why don't we fight back? Our kids have, or should have, TRITH on their side. They should not only be able to withstand this assault from liberal social science professors, but to challenge and defeat them!
Why don;t they? two words: Peer pressure. The natural inclination to want to "fit in".
The USA became what it was (pre-Obama) because of innovation, which comes from "flipping the bird" to those who say "it can't be done" . The achievers, be they people of faith, or atheistic nerds, moved ahead in the face of opposition, and by not caring what others thought of them. To us, we should think in terms of an audience of One, the One to whom we must answer. At the end of the day, we won't be answering to a sneering professor or the cute girl who we want to impress (We don't want her to think we're some kind of religious fruitcake do we?), or the"in crowd" whose price of admission is superficiality.
So if we are going to innovate and assert ourselves, we need to aspire to give our utmost to His highest. That means not being weenies. It means standing for our beliefs in spite of opposition. It is this that will help with our witness, not being, as Sarah Palin would put it "The one thing that goes with the flow is a dead fish".
We need to be light in places of darkness, such as university campuses have become.
We need christian Doctors and nurses.... To stand for the right to life.... we need Christian filmakers, journalists and brouadcasters to retake popular culture. So they challenge authorityon campus and get failing grades. They still LEARN what needs to be learned, and if they are good, they can strike out on their own....and make a difference. We need Christian engineers, to develop technology that is better than the enemy's and who will develop things for good, not only for profit, or worse, the state.
If we hole ourselves up we will never be the salt and light God has intend3ed us to be, and have only ourselves to blame for our decline.
The Hippies were once the subculture... now they are the estabishment. They are a miserable moral failure. They did it by taking over the universities. we need to use the universities to learn what we need to make a move. Who cares about grades. if someone won't hire you for that, so what?
Nobody wanted to hire Jews at one time, so they responded by doing just that. They educated themselves, and became entrepreneurs, and look what the jewish community has made of itself. The latter Day Saints have done similarly. And you know what? They have stood by their people. They have sacrificed for them to move ahead without depending on "the world system". The whole family kicks in at Bar Mitzvah, and a thirteen year old boy finds himself with a trust fund that he can use in life to pay for med school, or invest in a business.
The Latter Day Saints do similar things.
These groups have always lived under the persecution we are now seeing directed toward us, but instead of whining or confirming (especially the LDS) they stood up in the face of it and moved ahead. The LDS members do not compromise on morals, and all young male LDS members are expected to go on mission. I don't agree with much Tony Campolo has to say, but he did say that Christians can learn much from the LDS missionary program.
BTW, the Latter Day Saints are the fastest growing Christian denomination in the world. I know that many of you do not see the LDS as christian, but take it as a yardstick against which we need to measure our own work.
So there's my rant. I hope that I will see some comments, good or bad about it.
So How about it? (Revelation 3&4) Will each of us take some quiet time with God TODAY, and recommit ourselves to his service? To reaquaint ourselves with our first love? To stand in the face of persecyution knowing that this is not all there is, to shake away any worldliness and heresies we may have bought into?
He is knocking....Will we invite Him in? will we exchange the chintzy trinkets the world calls riches, and instead buy His gold refined in the fire?
